Unit 17 - LO4 P5

Unit 17 - LO4 P5

Task 1.) Edit outline/Logging rushes (1 lesson)

Now you've finished shooting we are going to plan out the edit of your opening and start to visualise the finished product.

I will go through specific editing techniques with each individual group and see what effect they are trying to achieve on their opening. Might be split screen, colour changes or masking etc.

Before we start to use premiere pro you will review your footage and decide on an edit timeline, How will your opening start, what happens in the middle and how will it end?

Use the Logging Rushes sheet to do an overall review of the footage you have shot and annotate the timeline with how your edit will go. decide on the shots that you have and how they will be edited together, use the example to help.

Task 2.) Editing decision list

Once you have reviewed your footage the next task is to do 1 or 2 decision sheets, you will use the MVI titles for the first column and go through which ones you will keep or discard. Use the middle column to describe what the clip was and why it worked or didn't work.

Task 3.) Editing (2 weeks, 1 week rough cut)

FIrst you should edit your opening without any effects and just make a ROUGH CUT version of your edit with a start, middle and end. once you have done this you should now screenshot your offline edit and write a short evaluation  of what works well and what effects you will include to improve the final edit.

Task 4.) Editing

Carry on your editing and include all the improvements/effects you are going to include (might be text, credits, Colour grade etc)

Task 5.) Final Evaluation

Once you have finished your final opening take photos of you editing, sound person putting in sound, cinematographer reviewing footage etc. Then annotate around these photos of a final evaluation of your specific role and how your improved the edit or re-shot, colour graded any particular part to help you achieve a much more effective opening.

DONE!
