P5
a.) Products
impact and effect on the audience – Info-graphic website to make
impacts on audience using different platforms. Reviews and how they would shape
an audience (examples and quotes) Interviews or trailers, articles.
P5a: Impact and effect on audience
New page in your study guide…
TITLE: THE PRODUCTS IMPACT AND EFFECT ON THE AUDIENCE
TASK: To find examples on how your product had an impact on its audience.
Use screen shots, quotations, primary research and images.
Use screen shots, quotations, primary research and images.
Create an inforgraphic with facts and figures of the impact on your products audience, how did different reviews or articles shape an audience I.E. IMDB reviews normally mean a lot to film watched compared to an unknown blogger. Rockstars MANHUNT or GTA may have had a different impact with violence being linked to the game from articles blaming the game on how they shot and killed someone.
Use Info.com or make a Piktochart page
Include a 200 word paragraph at the end to say:
‘To summarise, this shows us that *Blank* has had a positive/negative impact on its audience because…’
b.) Relevant
issues of representation – 4 characters or issues in violence etc.
Specific examples from the text to back up how you explain each character.
P5b. Issues of representation
You will analyse representation on your chosen text... include
1: Representation of violence/women/men etc - choose two characters from your product. How are they being represented positively/ negatively? Be specific with your examples.
2: Representation of violence/men/woman etc: choose two male/female characters. How do they represent men/women? What are the attitudes toward sexuality and how is this represented?
Include still images and annotate them to comment on costume, body language/ expression to illustrate your points.
c.) Relevant
legal and/or ethical issues – Truth and accuracy, balanced opinions,
copyright and health & safety.
P5c: Legal and ethical issues
Legal and ethical issues are when your media product might get into trouble for swearing/violence/inappropriate content... films tend to need to be cut a little to get the certificate they need for their target audience. Games often get into trouble for inciting violence.
For example even swearing can make a film get a 15 certificate and if it's for kids, suddenly a huge part of the target audience cannot watch it!
TASK:
Look up the relevant / legal issues for your product, and see if you can find anything specific that made an impact on it or might have caused concern for the legal team.
Create a page in your study guide containing stills from the film with details and annotations.
Consider your products responsibility of:
- Truth and accuracy
- Representation of a real life event
- A balanced opinion
- Copyright
- Health and safety
d.) Role
of relevant regulatory bodies – Films – BBFC/PEGI (Games) what rating
the text got and why using examples/screenshots
P5d: Regulatory information (BBFC)
BBFC/PEGI/Parental Advisory research
Find out:
- Who are they and what do they do
- What the certificates mean
- What issues they face in classifying films
Then… apply to your text - What did they say about your text? Search on their website. What certificate was it given and why? Justify this with your own example from the text. Find out from the BBFC/PEGI website and write up in your own words.
